Life in Lockdown

Updated: Mar 29

Thank you to my lovely clients Sarah and Mark and the Lancashire Evening Post for featuring my work on today's cover.

The last year has been incredibly hard for so many people. With financial struggles, families unable to meet each other and meet new arrivals, marriages postponed and restricted, and the death of loved ones.

I have had the pleasure to photograph many of you throughout this time, documenting special life events and offering a little treat to brighten your day.

It has been lovely to chat but heartbreaking to hear your stories, including that many of you have welcomed little ones into the world without being able to introduce them to family. It's made my job even more special, knowing that my photos are being shared and treasured with your loved ones during this period.

On a personal note, following the loss of my mum it has been particularly difficult to have to speak to family at the door, standing apart, and follow the rules of 'no hugging' during her funeral with no reception to console each other afterward. Previous to this my mum was diagnosed with cancer just seven weeks before she passed away. A month of this was spent in hospital with no visitors due to restrictions.

Today's Post features Sarah and Mark Burckhardt who I have photographed throughout the pandemic and two of my first clients.

We first met when I photographed their baby girl, Dory, with her siblings, Skyler, Niamh and Calvin. Dory was born on the first day of lockdown! I had the privilege to photograph their wedding in September and the christening of Dory too. I recently photographed them again to celebrate Dory's first birthday! Thank you Sarah and Mark for including my work in your story.

Better days are coming,

Big hugs,
